Oslo - Go slow !!!.

I think its been years I have stopped writing . But I think since I have left writing , I have been weaving stories in my mind .So I start to scribble down about my travel lust here. So I start with Oslo . I went to Oslo for work and no less than six months was I supposed to spend there . Oslo is one of the most special places I have been to and I have ever liked  .You might have heard of the term at the corner of the world , but if you really want to experience it , go to Norway .the land of Vikings , the land of midnight sun , the Green lights and Fjords .and you litrally feel you are not in the same world you ever have been . It is because of so many things the weather conditions , the culture, the people , your political and professional surrounding , the exotic landscape . Just everything , you really feel you are somewhere else .

Well first day at in Oslo . It was such a cold and silent day during the winters . And there was a sun rise just 20 minutes ago . It was 9 am . This comes as a surprise if you come from India where the sun is always dancing over your head after 9 am . And I told myself , oh hell this has just begun . I was provided a beautiful apartment with a big balcony on the sides . It was in the downtown but at 10 in the morning it felt like mid night . It was a pin drop silence . Jetlagged , I pulled out the small wine bottle I saved during my flight and took peg in this cold weather and just slept in until it was night again .

I bet you would feel for sometime that you are right there on that lonely planet , well a literal one . Its beautiful as hell , so quiet that sometimes you will get scared to hear your own voice .

Its a little funny that people do not talk to each other , and it is not just with strangers but even with the people they they know.Well that doesn't mean they are not warm or nice , but its just they do not talk :) When you would initiate a conversation they would always be polite , well super polite . You would also notice Norwegians are tall , blue eyed and extremely fit and beautiful . I dont remmber if I have seen anyone who is even fat in Norway .

But there are ten things , you have to know about Oslo , which are so atypical of any other country .

1. You have to visit oslo , if you want to know how can you see all four seasons in a day .No not in an year but in a Day . Yes I mean it you can have a sunny day , the cold rains and the snow all in a same day . The season just lasts for three hours , trust me !!

When I initially went to Oslo , I used to feel like a frozen tomato which is put in the freezer !!! Oh it was so damn cold , i was into so many layers of clothes that apart from my eyes nothing could be visible . And all the time I used to think that how do girls wear stockings and such short skirts and are walking easily . After a month , i was stung by the fashion bug and I was the same :)

2. If you want to see what expensive means , you have got to come here . Its not just jaw-dropping but i wont be amazed if you have to sell your Fossils watch for a normal haircut (500 NOK = 60 USD for a haircut ) !!! and yes the last log boots that i bought are of 2000 NOK , 200 Euro and no it is a normal brand. If you do not check the price before you buy , you might not just end up not with a hole in your pocket but you might have had had sold your pants :)

3. You go to Oslo , if you want to see how the sober people go crazy  on a Saturday Night . Its sort of funny , and it is such a rare sight . Oslo is a very small city and generally everything is closed It is a treat to see the public bus with the drunk guys with their ties and suits , singing and dropping here and there .And yes the pub culture is not the normal one there . Because oslo is so dead expensive and the drinks are super expensive they have one round of drinks at their home . It is called .....and then they go to pub for a small round of drinks and little bit of  dance. Also all the once who like to hear Metal , this is the place for you .

4 . However i did witness a lot of events that are so unique  . E.g there is a pub crawl from the morning in which people visit 22 pubs in a day . yes , and thats serious . and a few of the men and women in real visist all of them . Well and yes i am not describing OktoberFest , its the one in Norway .

5. Also , one event that you cannot miss is the national day . when people wear their national dress and celebrate and see the king and the queen of Norway . Its one of themost wonderful days of Norway .
6. Another day that I could remember is the day when the Nobel Peace Prize was awarded . You would see peole with their light torches proceeded to the Karl Johans gate . It was a remarkable day because I could witness the recipients of my own country Shri Kailash Satyarthi for the Nobel prize .

7. Again there is one day when you see everyone on the roads . and the day is when all the museums in Oslo are Free . It is sometime in April and that day you need to collect a ticket from the city hall and you get all the tickets for free . Also not all the museums would not be very inerestng but for me Technisk museum is one of the best museums i could think of .

8. You should go to Oslo , if you want to see the parks . one of the famous ones is vigland park . for a while you might be astonished to see the big statues , and yeah it  is a different kind of architecture here . However my personal favourite is Ekberg park ,  Its located on a hill and the sculptures are just hidden in the park and as you move around you discover them . It is very interesting because they are very unconevntional , modern and very scientific ( i would say after moving around I have discovered that I am more a lover of science than art :)

The sculpture hangs in from a tree , It is a man and a woman makingwoman making love in free space .

This statue is magnificient and one of my favourites , this statue has a 3D view defined , from which ever side you would see the sculptor . You would feel the statue is facing you .

The picture explains that life is a book and the various colours and the reflection tell you much you could add to the world .
